Ninth Circuit Affirms Judgment in Favor of CPW Client Ernesto Lira in suit against California Department of Corrections
The Ninth Circuit has affirmed the trial victory obtained by CPW lawyers Mark White and Bill Chapman on behalf of Ernesto Lira against the California Department of Corrections. The Ninth Circuit court agreed that the California Department of Corrections violated Lira’s constitutional rights by improperly validating him as a prison gang member, resulting in eight years of solitary confinement at Pelican Bay Penitentiary.

Seven CPW Lawyers Selected for Inclusion in 2011 Northern California Super Lawyers List

Court of Appeal Affirms Victory for CPW Client
Renee Callantine's successful effort to obtain summary judgment in favor of State Farm in a case arising from a claim to cover asbestos abatement costs was recently affirmed on appeal. The First District held that the pollution exclusion in the policy's property coverage section applied to preclude coverage for asbestos fibers released during renovation work at a condominium complex. Renee Callantine Appointed Chair of Property Insurance Law Committee
Renee Callantine has been appointed Chair of the Property Insurance Law Committee of the ABA's Tort, Trial and Insurance Section for the 2011-2012 year. Bill Campbell Appointed to New ABA Position
Bill Campbell has been appointed co-chair of the Advance Planning Leadership Committee of the American Bar Association's Section of Litigation. Bill has held numerous previous ABA leadership positions, including co-chairing the Litigation Section's Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee, directing the Section's Publications Division and co-chairing the ABA Annual Meeting and the Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee's annual continuing legal education seminar.
