Public Entities

CPW attorneys represent public entities including school districts and transportation agencies in trials, writs and appeals of a wide variety of cases that span many of our other practice areas, including employment, professional liability, civil rights, real estate and construction. We have handled labor negotiations and disputes at all levels of the collective bargaining system. Lawyers at CPW have prosecuted and defended claims on behalf of public entities in cases involving real estate and construction matters. We also have prosecuted professional liability claims on behalf of public entities.

Public entities also turn to CPW to handle challenges to their activities brought under the state and federal constitutions and cases involving complex statutory issues. These cases require attorneys with trial experience who are sensitive to the public and political implications of their work and who can work closely with their in-house colleagues. We enjoy working with the governing boards of these entities to resolve lawsuits in a manner that promotes fairness, accountability and the public interest.
